Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant - Surgery Department

The Surgery Team at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Matthews, North Carolina is NOW HIRING to join our fantastic group of board-certified surgeons and brilliant technicians!

Our surgery nursing team works synchronously with the surgeons, performing all aspects of patient and surgical care and providing top-notch care including elective, emergency, and novel surgical procedures. The schedule is a 4-day work week with rotating, shared on-call. The surgery technician enjoys a team-centered work atmosphere and must have at least one year of veterinary anesthesia experience. Tasks will include diagnostics, surgical assisting, administering anesthesia and anesthetic intervention, patient monitoring, and recovery, client education, and hands-on skills such as venipuncture, catheterization, surgical prep, lab sample prep, and more! This is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills in a teaching environment, all the while helping clients and their pets bolster the human-animal bond.

This is a highly specialized opportunity for the right candidate, who will possess:
- Positive, can-do attitude
- At least 1-year experience as a technician or assistant where they held responsibilities in the induction, administration, monitoring, and recovery from anesthesia
- Strong work ethic and good organizational skills
- Ability to sit or stand throughout the day; occasional bending, and kneeling; ability to lift 40 lbs unassisted
- Solid foundational technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, general laboratory, anesthesia, and pharmacology skills
Our hospital is located in Matthews, NC - just off of I485. We are proud to be a VECCS-level II certified trauma center and have provided pets and their families with emergency and specialty care since 2012.
